Memory Capsules
Final Project at CIID

There is a type of fable that is actually true: grandparent's stories.
Memory Capsules is a service that provides the tools to record audio files in the shape of one or a series of capsules, to keep them in a safe virtual space and to transform the virtual object in a physical heirloom. Episodes and images came together in a chain, or stands by themselves, in the shape of a capsule.

Oral stories are halfway between structured storytelling and simple memories. Memory Capsules leverage storytelling to a simple structure and empower elderly people to actively contribute to the process of recording what they have to say.
To investigate the topic, I interviewed different people, and sometimes I'd brought some design game, to engage them in activities and discover insights.
I built a semi-working prototype of one capsule. I carved a wooden ball and embedded a speaker and a potentiometer inside.

I also built a working prototype of the phone application..

..and of the website.
